Climate Action, Circularity and Environmental Stewardship

Preserving our planet

Our goal is to implement regenerative and innovative practices to reduce climate change impacts and support environmental protection by example.

We work to reduce emissions across all our production sites, infrastructure, logistics and throughout the entire supply chain. We optimise packaging design to promote resource circularity and eliminate unnecessary materials.

100% green electricity

Through heat recovery systems, the oven warmth is used to heat the production and administration rooms and provide hot water. We purchase 100% green electricity from the renewable energy sources of water and wind. To produce our own electricity, we have photovoltaic systems at our Unterinn and Heinfels sites.

Sustainable logistics

We pursue two goals: First we want to reduce the impact of inbound and outbound transport vis-a-vis climate change and air pollution by focusing on alternatives to fossil fuels (HVO and LNG), and leveraging intermodality (combined road-rail transport). Second we want to improve our two logistics warehouses to be as energy self-sufficient and climate-friendly as possible by closely working with our suppliers.

Our New Electric Oven

Our ovens are the heart of our production—and until now, also the main source of direct climate-changing emissions.

In collaboration with Bühler, our long-standing partner, we’ve designed and built a new electric induction oven. It’s not just a prototype—it’s a promise. Powered by renewable energy and monitored with precision tools, this oven is the first step toward making our baking process climate neutral.

Zero emissions of greenhouse gases

After successful testing in Austria, the oven arrived at our site in April 2025 and the first wafers rolled out in July. Over the next 4–5 years, we’ll fine-tune every detail to ensure it performs just like the traditional ones—only cleaner. This “new electric oven” project will contribute to the development of a new, CO² emission-free wafer production process while retaining our high-quality standards.

Packaging life cycle

We’ve been working for some time to reduce our packaging impact without decreasing product quality, breaching legal requirements, and ignoring market demands.

This is how we contribute towards regenerative impact and reducing waste, aiming to close the loop in packaging management.

We are pursuing two goals for the coming years:

  • Packaging circularity: Converting plastic packaging to recyclable mono-materials by 2025 to promote efficient end-of-life recycling.
  • Avoiding useless packaging: Reducing or eliminating all unnecessary paper and cardboard. Our aim is to reduce overall packaging weight of paper and corrugated cardboard by 3% by 2025 compared to 2023 levels.

Packaging: Our sustainable choices

We base our choices for new materials on structured, scientific methodologies such as LCA (Life Cycle Assessment). One choice in 2025 was to choose the lowest impact material for our Patisserie 100 and cookie trays, made with rigid polypropylene. As of 2023, we have only been purchasing paper and cardboard FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certified primary and secondary packaging materials which we use in our production facilities.
