We use 100% precious Bourbon vanilla pods from Madagascar, renowned for their natural aroma, purity, and first-class quality. Through our "Bourbon Vanilla from Madagascar" program, we build transparent, long-term partnerships with small farming cooperatives in the Sava region of northern Madagascar.
By providing agronomic training and direct support to local farmers in the communities of Marofototra, Marofinatra, and Andranalingoza, we ensure full supply chain traceability and uncompromising quality from bean to wafer.
Our commitment in Madagascar extends far beyond agricultural cultivation to direct community empowerment. We invest in essential local infrastructure and promote clean solar energy in partnership with ADES (Association pour le Développement de l'Energie Solaire Suisse-Madagascar).
In 2024, we launched our first direct vanilla farming project on five hectares in Mananjary, on the east coast of Madagascar. Following two years where direct collaboration was restricted by local export regulations, Loacker officially secured its export license in 2026. This key milestone enables us to resume direct partnerships with local cooperatives, generating economic value in the region, supporting fair employment, and accelerating our target to cover 100% of our vanilla demand through direct, fully traceable supply chains by 2030.
To further strengthen relationships with local communities and support household livelihoods, Loacker has launched a four-hectare cocoa pilot project in the same region where our vanilla is grown. This agroforestry initiative promotes crop diversification, protects local biodiversity, and provides farming families with stable, multi-income opportunities throughout the year.
